Jamie Lynn Chediac, RMT / Mentor / Mindful Teaching

Teaching an artful approach to both hands-on & barefoot techniques.

The goal of deep tissue skillbuilding is to disrupt an unserving tension pattern and to allow the nervous system time to self correct. It is not a recipe for sequencing the flow of techniques, but rather a body of strategy that is ‘therapist centric’ to encourage a practice of creative longevity.

My hope is to inspire your chosen form of body work in a way that adds value & effect to the therapeutic experience. When we come to the ‘table’ with a focused intention to reframe how we do our work, we open up a new layer of therapeutic space. Similar to how we come to a yoga mat, our work as massage therapists can be built up at the table with guidance to strengthen our ‘at work’ practice. My hope is that deep tissue skillbuilding - whether that’s with your hands or feet, serves to intelligently inspire your style in bodywork.  When you commit to one of my courses, you're coming to the table with a new framework in mind & I can’t wait to share that with you.

All of this the culmination of my own studies, both past & present. Here’s a quick snap shot of that:

In bodywork, it’s imperative to maintain boundaries that protect and benefit the therapist client relationship. Working at the expense of your own body creates an energetic vulnerability and disharmony with the overall goals of care. We are working to support a healing container – this happens best by putting the wellness of the providing healer first. To stretch, press, pull and squeeze tissue requires patience, care and attention to ‘how’ we are doing our work. We invite tissue and tension to release and avoid ‘stripping’ muscle tissue.

Sidelying skillbuilding intensive - 1 day

Sidelying and all its variations should be a trusty tool to effective care for every RMT. Often avoided out of habit and therefore never fully integrated into regular care both therapists and clients are missing out on one of the most useful positional tools for deep tissue release. After this workshop you’ll be able to confidently drape and access techniques that keep your posture lifted allowing you to feel more energetic and creatively invigorated.

Seated Barefoot Massage Therapy

Come explore the wonderful world of barefoot massage therapy. Therapists will familiarize themselves with massage therapy techniques using their feet as a point of therapeutic contact with the patients muscle, joints and connective tissue.

Our introductory workshop allows therapists to take techniques back to their practice right away without concern for specific equipment. We will only be showing techniques that use a high stool system and allow the therapist to use their feet for deep tissue techniques on the upper back, shoulders, neck and chest wall. This is a wonderful place to start if you are curious about this modality, just want to try something completely new or seriously considering about refreshing and up-leveling your massage therapy practice.

This 2 day workshop is a pre-requisite to the first module of standing techniques, Barefoot Basics.

Barefoot Basics - 3 days

Deepen your skillset and knowledge of barefoot massage therapy. In this three day workshop, therapists will learn the basics of safe and effective placement of technique using a high stool and overhead bar system for barefoot massage therapy. At the end of the workshop you will be able to provide a full body barefoot massage therapy treatment and understand the relevant clinical applications and contraindications. This workshop requires that you attend one of our introductory workshops in advance.

Barefoot Advanced - 4 days

Once your single footed standing & seated barefoot practice has been established then you are eligible to continue advanced training that includes a variety of integrations. These include mobility practices, positional release, more choreography of technical & texture options as well as two footed strokes. In order to participate in this Barefoot Advanced workshop therapists must complete an audited barefoot session in person or virtually.

Other deep tissue skill building formats include isolated, immersive shoulder & lumbar work / expanding the hands-off massage therapy approach via props, bolsters & productive positioning as well as a hands-on or barefoot 3 day masterclass. In the hands-on as well as the barefoot realm we conduct additional skill building via our open clinic community nights. If any of these additional topics appeal to you then please do not hesitate to reach out via email.

To register, please visit our shop page or click here to be redirected. We will require payment in full to secure your spot. We will supply all tables, linens & oil/gel/lotion for the duration of our workshops.

Let the focus of a therapist centric approach to care be driven by a measurement of physical skill, boundaries, energetic value and balance to create not necessarily a painful experience but a curiously peaceful and therapeutic experience.
