About Jamie Lynn Chediac

Jamie Lynn Chediac is a Registered Massage Therapist since 2004 and the owner of Sore Spots Massage Therapy. In her practice she balances clinic management, therapist mentorship and client intake.  Whether promoting the Sore Spots brand or working with her amazing team of therapists, her inspiration for bodywork lies purely in supporting a positive, healthy consent-based culture around massage and touch therapy that empowers people to live better in their bodies and within their families.

Her introduction to massage therapy began as an adolescent while volunteering for the Single Parent Center in helping coordinate their baby massage groups.  It was at these weekly sessions that she take a birds’ eye view of the world of massage therapy for the benefits of babies and plant of seed of interest that sparked her professional development later on in life.

After completing her massage therapy program at the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy, she returned to the same center, later named the Chebucto Family Center and in 2008 became the recipient of the Yellow Pages Small Business ‘Make it Real’ Award for her contribution as a massage therapy volunteer.

She’s also made it on the Best of Halifax list in the Coast several times, but now strives to stay out of the limelight and maintain a focus on the development and growth of other therapists within the Sore Spots team.

She’s received other trainings such as Doula training through the Chebucto Family Center and a Certified Yoga Teacher through Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio (TAYS) as well as a Pre-natal Yoga Instructor designation. She’s training extensively in various deep tissue techniques and developed her own brand of deep work called Deep Tissue Skillbuilding whereby all Sore Spots therapists receive ‘first hand’ Jamie’s unique style of care via studio orientation and on-going mentorship.

The aim of this mentorship is to ensure that therapists are employing techniques in a diligent, deep and effective manner without expensing their own body and employing a caring communication strategy with the client.  Though, it could be said that she also continues to learn from every therapist that joins the Sore Spots team and every client that walks through the door for treatment.

Outside of her deep tissue focus, Jamie has also trained extensively in barefoot massage also known as Ashiatsu and has received training in the use of essential oils from Aliksir in Grondines, Quebec, Casaroma Wellness Center in Dartmouth, NS and the United States.

When she’s not in the studio, she can be found cooking up a storm, tinkering with musical instruments, singing in choirs and running around with her awesome dog, Cashew.  At the foundation of all life’s little adventures, staying close to family and friends is her biggest priority.
